Can I use my portable satellite phone when I am not on my aircraft?
While on aircraft, Blue Sky Network and Iridium portable telephones are supported by our single- or dual-channel TSO'd exterior antennas*, tuned to Iridium. For use off the aircraft, Iridium portable satellite phones come with attachable antennas. All that is needed is a clear view of the sky.

Do I need the Exterior TSO'd Antenna Kit for aviation isntallations*?
You do not need the Exterior TSO'd Antenna Kit* to use the Blue Sky Network equipment. However, we highly recommend the purchase of this antenna kit as it is the most assured method of achieving maximum signal strength. Remember that Blue Sky Network aviation kits are priced to include the antenna, as well as all required installation hardware.

Do I need my own laptop?
If you're using Blue Sky Network's Iridium service plans for global data services, then you'll need your own laptop to support those services. Blue Sky Network does not provide laptops or any other type of mobile Internet device as part of its communication products.
Do all aircraft headsets work with Blue Sky Network's headset adapters?
Blue Sky Network offers the VL1000J, which provides amplification, and allows for the plug-in of a personal music device, such as a CD player. The VL1000HA converts the VL1000J for helicopter use by adding two conversion cords. Both of these adapters are designed to work with most cellular telephones in general aviation applications, as well as most standard GA and Helicopter headsets. Do I need to install anything?
With Blue Sky Network's communications equipment, the amount of installation required depends on the type of kit that you buy. With our simplest portable Satcom kit, you need only install the antenna. However, with our fixed-installation kits, you may install additional equipment inside the aircraft to suit your specific needs.
Keep in mind that every Blue Sky Network kit comes with a complete installation package, designed for the ease and efficiency of your avionics installer. It's not necessary to buy any additional installation hardware. A complete installation guide is included for your avionics installer.

What satellite system does Blue Sky Network use?
