Blue Sky Network
December 2006
Updates to SkyRouter

We continue to move towards our goal of providing the world's best global asset tracking portal and we are happy to announce this quarter's updates to Blue Sky Network's SkyRouter.

Blue Sky Network recently announced the introduction of the D2000M/MD product line for vehicle and marine tracking (see below). SkyRouter has now been updated with features to manage these new D2000 units in the field. These features include the addition of new events such as "Active", "Start", "Stop", "Speeding" and "Movement" and the addition of a D2000 Profile setup page for configuring the D2000 units. All of these options are described in the D2000 User Guide which can be found in the support section of our web-site or directly from the "Help" section of your SkyRouter account.

Our "Map" page has also received a few updates:
  • Breadcrumbs are now connected to display a continuous historic path.
  • The breadcrumbs can also be user-controlled (from the options tab on the map page) to show the trip based on a set number of hours or based on when the last trip started (Take-Off or Start event).
  • Inactive assets are now displayed going back up to 3 month (as opposed to just 96 hours) in the asset list on the Map page.
  • Inactive assets are "grayed out" on the map to better distinguish from active assets. Remember that you can pick a color for any asset from the Assets tab (corporate account only).

Release of the D2000M/MD
for Vehicle and Marine Tracking

Blue Sky Network recently announced the introduction of our new asset tracking product line, the D2000M and D2000MD. We are now happy to announce the first shipments of these unique products this week.

With completely global coverage and a first position report received at SkyRouter within approximately 40 seconds, this high performance and rugged product is in a class of its own. With an optional installed battery these units will run for more than 24 hours on a single charge, and weighing only 2.2lb, become an ultra mobile solution for asset tracking and 2-way messaging.

Most of our customers will use this product for asset tracking, but it is important to recognize the D2000 series' ability as a remote communications device. Connect the D2000 to a laptop or PDA through an ethernet connection and you immediately have a 2-way email messaging device. Each D2000 has a unique email address so that your contact can send emails directly from Outlook or any other email program.

The asset type applications are numerous for this device and include large and small trucks, tractor trailers, construction vehicles, workboats, container ships or other transport vehicles/vessels. Additionally it can be used as a portable carry-on for aircraft tracking.

Polar First

On December 5, 2006 Polar First launched their second attempt to set a record for circumnavigating the globe by way of the South and North Poles. With Blue Sky Network's D1000 flight tracking and telemetry terminal with embedded GPS, Jennifer Murray and Colin Bodill's Bell 407 helicopter will maintain constant communication with on-ground support during the 36,000-mile, 175-day trip.

Polar First crashed during the original attempt in 2003. The Blue Sky Network system and web-based SkyRouter alerted and directed emergency crews to the exact location of the crash and got them help immediately. The crew believes this solution saved their lives.

"Considering the inherent danger of a flight like this, and our own personal experience, it is a relief to know we can rely on the Blue Sky Network flight tracker to keep us in contact with our crew on the ground at all times, no matter where we are," said pilot Jennifer Murray. See our press release and for more information on the expedition, see the Polar First web page.

Blue Sky Network Equipment operating on Commercial Airliner, Aerorepublica

AeroRepública has chosen Blue Sky Network's equipment for installation in its entire fleet, which operate in Colombia and throughout Latin America.

The solution gives AeroRepública a complete tracking, messaging, and voice solution allowing easy communication between their aviation assets and ground control.

"We considered other products, but BSN has a cost effective solution that has really improved our operations and safety" said Eduardo Lombana, vice president of operations of AeroRepublica.

AeroRepublica is installing Blue Sky Network's ACH1000/ D1000C kits on all of its aircraft fleet, McDonnell Douglas MD-81, McDonnell Douglas MD-82, McDonnell Douglas MD-83 and McDonnell Douglas DC-9-30 aircraft. The D1000C satellite modem offers AeroRepublica two-way communications, and instant web-based tracking and position reporting. The ACH1000 advanced control head adds cockpit integrated voice capabilities as well as short code messaging to the global satellite flight tracking of the D1000C.
