Blue Sky Network
March 2006
Dear SkyRouter Customer:

At Blue Sky Network we continuously strive to improve your Asset Management solution. This is true for both the SkyRouter Portal and for our D-series products, including the ACH1000 control head, released in December. In this issue of SkyRouter NEWS, we are proud to announce several new enhancements that will make your day-to-day fleet management safer and more efficient. All of these features are added at no additional cost to you.

Google Earth: Last year Google released a software Google Earth. Google Earth provides a 3D map of the entire world using satellite imagery. Part of Google Earth is an interface for other software applications to take advantage of its fascinating features. We have now built such an interface from SkyRouter. All SkyRouter asset tracking users with access to the "Reports" tab can open both historic and live tracking directly into Google Earth. Here are some of the examples of potential practical uses:
  • Live 3D tracking of high risk approaches
  • Post flight analysis for evaluation, training and regulation compliance
  • Incident review
Google Earth is available as a free download at http://earth.google.com. Subscription versions are available for more advanced uses.

Map Updates: You may already have noticed that the Map page in your SkyRouter account has changed. Specifically, we have updated the asset list on the right-hand side of the map. This area now includes three tabs (asset, events, and options). Nothing has changed on the "asset" tab itself, but we have added the "events" tab, and we have moved the "Layers" feature to the new "options" tab. The "events" tab gives the user an easier access to monitor events (take-off, landing, short codes from ACH1000 control heads, etc.) as they arrive. Additionally, events will now display a 10 sec message in the top right-hand corner of the map as they arrive. Of course users can still lookup older events under the "Reports" tab.

Origin and Destination from ACH1000 control heads: Since its launch in November 2005 the ACH1000 control head has become our quickest selling new product ever. However useful, we felt, and customers reported back to us, that a key feature was missing for the initial release; the addition of Origin and Destination reporting. Fortunately we can fix that with a software upgrade. We will shortly be releasing new software for our D1000 and ACH1000 products. This is a major software release and a Service Bulletin will follow as soon as full release testing has been completed.

Part of the update to the ACH1000 software will be the addition of an Origin and Destination feature in the flight plan transmission to SkyRouter. There will be two ways to enter an Origin/Destination in the ACH1000 control head:
  • Go to the Flight Plan screen.
  • When prompted for an Origin or a Destination, scroll using the navigation button to select letters (A-Z) for each of the letters in the location.
  • Use numbered codes. Some customers have suggested that a system where "cheat sheets" are used in the aircraft may be advantageous because of the more efficient use of the ACH1000's numeric keypad. Here is an example:
    • In the aircraft a "cheat sheet" is kept with numbered codes for the e.g. 30 most common locations flown to.
    • When the crew enters the flight plan, they will enter the code using the numeric keypad on the ACH1000 for both Origin and Destination.

      • Example: 1000 => KSAN, 1001 => KLAX, etc.

    • The SkyRouter portal allows users to seamlessly convert the codes back to the original full destination name. When the flight plan arrives at the SkyRouter portal we will automatically check to see if there is a code for that destination. If so, the SkyRouter user will see the full name, not the code.
    • To enter Code/Name conversions you must have access to the Corporate Admin account. Go to the "Prefs" tab and select "Origins & Destinations".
For further information please refer to the User Guide or the "Help" feature in SkyRouter. As always you are encouraged to contact us directly as your suggestions and ideas are always welcome.

We hope you will enjoy these enhancements. At Blue Sky Network we are committed to continue our efforts to provide you with the worlds best Asset Management Portal. Anywhere—Anytime.

Thank you for being part of our network,
