![]() This is a special edition of our Newsletter. We hope many of you are aware that Steve Fossett is, once again, attempting to break another record by flying the Virgin Atlantic Global Flyer further than any other aircraft in history. Since he has already circumnavigated the Earth in this single engine jet aircraft as well as a hot air balloon, his goal with this adventure is to exploit the capabilities of the Virgin Atlantic Global Flyer to see how far he can safely go. On Wednesday this week, he departed Kennedy Space Center in Florida. As of this moment, he has completed 35 of his anticipated 80 hours of flight to set this record and is currently heading East over the Pacific from Asia. He intends to cross the U.S. and then continue over the Atlantic, landing in England.Blue Sky Network is, and has been, a proud sponsor of Steve's activities. His aircraft is equipped with the same products some of you have purchased for your own operations. Steve is using our D1000 for his tracking, email messaging (weather) and telemetry requirements and a 9505A phone for his voice communications. Currently, we are providing the world with several ways to see this event and we wanted to share some of these here. For those of you with a Blackberry or other browser PDA device, you can actually get your tracking/mapping updates on your device by using the "get link" command (make sure your configuration is set to accept HTML in the options) from here: http://www.blueskynetwork.com/globalflyer/MobileImages.html. Alternatively, you can go to: http://www.blueskynetwork.com/globalflyer/ and periodically use your "refresh" button to update. Steve has also done several live satellite interviews from the aircraft on CNN, Fox, and CBS News using the Blue Sky Network equipment. One of these is available at: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/02/08/tech/main1294505.shtml under the "In-Flight Interview" caption. We wish Steve the best in this effort and hope you enjoy these opportunities to see his adventure in near real time.
